Zedcrest, an expert in financial solution services provision said it has successfully transformed into becoming a full-service household name within 13 years of as a corporate leadership in the Nigerian financial services market.
The excited Founder and Group Managing Director of the Zedcrest Group Limited, Mr Adedayo Amzat told journalist at an event tagged: ‘An Evening with Zedcrest’ has grown over the last 13 years to become a full-service household name in the financial services industry.
According to him, Zedcrest is now seen as a leader in the securities markets, noting that Zedcrest created the first formal non-bank institution and that as the fore-runner in that space, Zedcrest created the space to deal with Government Securities to address the issues budget deficit.
Amzat who was for many years a banker revealed that foreign investors come through Zedcrest to lend the Nigeria Government thereby putting Zedcrest in a position of a broker-dealer-lender both for the Government and for other of her customers adding that the Zedcrest portfolio extends to domestic securities for other entities in Nigeria.
He said, “As of 2013, we then realized one of the things that would drive the economy is consumerism. But unfortunately, that was almost not present about 13 or 15 years ago, and the entire attempt to borrow money to erect a new house, all I needed was N2 million but I couldn’t find anyone to lend us money.”
He however noted that the financial services has evolved beyond that saying that there are now several options open for raising fund from the financial market
Highlighting the journey so far, he said: “We started lending money in 2014. Today, we are proud to say we are one of the leaders in the economy of money-making. After that, we must keep on finding ways we can sell our customers. We realized that we need to democratize investment solutions. Some of us covered the global financial crisis in 2008, when the international markets collapsed.
“We then realized that a lot of people who want to reinvest, but then the access to the right information and the right platforms was not for everyone. So we started Zedcrest Wealth as a futuristic global money-based platform that would bring our competence and sophistication to the international markets.”
Speaking further about the Zedcrest Wealth, Amzat said: “It was a technology backup and one of the first ever end-to-end technology-enabled global money-making solution that allows you to sell, invest in mutual funds, in trading deals, all online. Sometimes in 2024, we then realized that the stock market was structurally dead for so long because of the trust issue of 2008. We started to see a resurgence driven by police actions.”
Why narrating how Zedcrest Group acquired RMB Nigeria Stockbrokers and went into stock-holding business, he said that the decision was spurred by her customers saying that “Not because we wanted it, because it was too small a market and an opportunity for us but because our customers wanted to have access to all type of assets.”
